~ Egyptian reproduction winged scarab, gemstone necklace ~
The amulet on this necklace of Nephrite Jade, Amethyst, Agate, magnetic Hematite and glass beads is a winged scarab, also known as a heart scarab. Heart scarabs were placed over the heart of mummified bodies to assist the deceased to be resurrected in the afterlife. It is thought that the heart was seen as the receptacle of the mind by the Ancient Egyptians.
The amulet is made of faience, it is an authentic looking replica of an Ancient Egyptian amulet, and looks a little fragile, so I would not recommend it for everyday wear.
The necklace measures 75.5 cms in length, so it can also be worn double in a choker style. Insured postage and gift wrapping are included in the price.
